Non-native English celebration fest?

As long as this doesn't happen while I'm still buried under my dissertation, I am definitely up for it. I've already been looking for excuses to write in German occasionally, despite the fact that maybe two of my friends would be able to understand it.

And then we all get to find out how shamefully rusty my written German has become. But I'll probably enjoy it, anyway.

(I've actually thought a lot about what it means to not be a native english speaker or from the dominant cultures in fandom. )

I'd really love to hear those thoughts of yours! (Even if I have to google-translate them from the Swedish. XD) By the time I discovered fandom I pretty much spoke English fluently, so I've never had a great deal of problems with that. My language problems are all homesick expat problems.
